Peter has deep expertise in futures techniques, smart cities, sustainability strategy, digital transformation,  innovation, and policy, and applying these in a built environment context. He has advised major companies and leading cities. He is a Professor of Practice in City Futures at Cardiff University.

Previously, Peter was Chief Executive at the Future Cities Catapult which he built from scratch into a world-leading urban innovation centre. He also worked as Chief Executive at Forum for the Future, Head of Policy at the Environment Agency, Ministerial Adviser to the British Government, and Director of the Green Alliance.

He currently serves on the Board of the Crown Estate, is Chair of Building with Nature,  and is a member of Ingersoll Rand's Sustainability Advisory Council. A range of previous high-level Board and advisory experience includes the Smart London Board, Chair of UK Community Energy Coalition, Board of South West Regional Development Agency, Hewlett Packard Citizenship Committee, European Environment Bureau, and Fairtrade Foundation.
